When the Lord opens a door to serve in the work of His ministry, whatever we have planned for our own lives pales in comparison.  The Master is giving us an opportunity to live out the reason we were created, to realize the call He gave us as He created us in the womb. He’s offering a chance to utilize every gift He’s given us and experience a life full of the deepest meaning.  Friend Ships is that opportunity if you choose to receive and accept it as your assignment.

Mission Statement

It is time now for all soldiers to report to their posts.  There is a group of Godly soldiers who are called to walk the cutting edge in fulfilling God’s plans and purposes.  When a soldier is called into action, he doesn’t consider if it is convenient or if another time would better suit him.  A soldier doesn’t become involved in worldly affairs.  He reports when called, takes his place in action, performs the duties he is trained to do or trains for what he is assigned to do.  The soldier doesn’t decide if the Commander is correct in appointing him to a position or deliberate over battle plans to assess their value and strategy.  Does the clay say to the potter, “What are you making?”  No, the soldier reports where his Commander sends him, becomes part of a functioning team, does what he is asked to do the best he is able to do it and in so doing, enables the battalion to win the battle. Since the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing and forceful men lay hold of it.

So, if you are serious about serving the Lord, the time you will be able to join Friend Ships, is when you make yourself available.  We are waiting for you.

Friend Ships Unlimited (AKA Park West Children's Fund, Inc.) is dedicated to fulfilling the Biblical scriptures that teach us to help people in times of need and to encourage others to do likewise. The organization works through the collection, delivery and distribution of food, medical supplies, clothing, and building materials and by providing medical services, disaster relief and training. We provide aid to people of all races, nationalities, and religion. Programs give help to children, families and individuals who are impoverished, refugees and/or victims of natural disaster and to the institutions who assist them. Friend Ships operates with all full time and part time unpaid volunteers, working within the US and in many areas around the world.

It may seem strange but often God calls us to a job that seems all wrong.  Nehemiah was a cup bearer who becomes a construction supervisor.  Moses was a prince with a speech impediment who became a “rebel” leader of millions.  David was a shepherd and musician who became a King and a Warrior. Whatever your skills, age or abilities, we can use you if your heart is to work as part of team, love your fellow workers, neighbors and even strangers.  A willing heart is the most important skill, flexibility the most important attitude.   And here’s a word of advice - come without preconceived ideas-we will never match them – and if you want longevity in ministry, any ministry, don’t be discouraged by difficulties. Trials perfect our faith.

Serving with Friend Ships full time demands much and offers even more in return.  We have the rare opportunity here to spend 24/7 with our attention on advancing the Kingdom of God.  There is no cost to serve, no bills to pay.  The Word tells us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-that this is our spiritual act of worship.  Jesus laid down his life for his friends and for His enemies.  He calls us to do the same, for people we don’t know and may never see, who may not be gracious or even grateful for our service and it is our greatest privilege to do so.  Look at what the Word tells us: in 2 Corinthians 9:7-13 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”[a10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

Wow!! That says it all, doesn’t it?

Matthew 25, tells us that when we feed the poor, provide clothes to people who need them, give water to someone who is thirsty, visit the sick or prisoners and shelter those in need, it is as if we do this for Lord Himself. What greater motivation does a Christian require for serving with a ministry like Friend Ships?
